Know your
digital camera
The resolution of your digital camera affects the quality
of your photos. That is, the higher the megapixels setting,
the better quality photos that can be produced. See example below: |
|
The megapixel setting
also determines the size at which the image can be printed.
For example:
|
4 x 6 1152 x 864 (1
megapixel)
5 x 7 1600 x 1200 (2
megapixels)
8 x 10 2000 x 1500 (3 megapixels) |
|
Keep in mind however,
the higher the resolution setting the larger the
file and the more memory space needed on the digital
camera's memory card. |
Digital print sizes
For many digital cameras the standard image ratio is
6 in x 4.5 in. The standard image ratio for 35mm cameras
is 6 in x 4 in. See example below. |
|
These digital images
can be printed as 6 x 4.5 or as 6 x 4. If you do not
wish to lose any of your image, the whole image can
be fitted into a 6 x 4 canvas which means that your
images will have a border on 2 sides. See example below. |
|
|
|
6 x 4.5 |
6 x 4 |
6 x 4 "fit in" |

Digital
format of images for printing via the Fuji Frontier
For those who prefer to edit images using an image software
package before having them printed, the Fuji
Frontier accepts files in RGB mode
and at 300dpi for all print sizes. A resolution above
300dpi is not necessary and the extra information makes
no difference to the quality of the print. |
